Tying the Bleached Elk Hair Caddis

What You Need
Hook: Dai-Riki #305 12-16
Thread: 8/0 white
Body: White antron dubbing
Hackle: Grizzly dyed brown
Wing: Bleached Elk Hair
Bleached Elk Hair Caddis 1 Start by dressing your hook shank from the eye back to just past the point of the hook.
Bleached Elk Hair Caddis 2 Tie in your hackle at the bend of the hook.
Bleached Elk Hair Caddis 3 Apply dubbing to your thread and dress the body of the fly stopping about an eyes width from the eye of the hook.
Bleached Elk Hair Caddis 4 Palmer the hack forward towards the eye of the hook and tie off.
Bleached Elk Hair Caddis 5 Stack the Elk hair in your stacker and apply the wings to the fly. Start with 2-3 loose wraps of the thread and then tighten. This will help to secure the hairs in place. The wing should be the same length as the hook shank. Build a small thread damn in front of the hair, and tie off. Trim the butt ends to create the the head of the fly. Add some head cement to strengthen the head.
